These dies can be used for drawing various metal wires of specified round diameter like copper or aluminium as well as tubes instead of normal Natural Diamond Die(ND), Polycrystalline Diamond Die(PCS) and Tungsten Carbide Die(TC).

Therefore, the application features of the NDC die are:

1)Up to max 30x of TC dies depending on applications for example bunching and stranding.

The Tungsten Carbide (TC) wire drawing die gradually deteriorates in use, and needs to be polished many times, and the hole diameter is enlarged, and the final hole diameter is out of tolerance.

3)The smoothness of the working surface is high and always unchanged while the smoothness of the original Tungsten Carbide (TC) wire drawing die gradually deteriorates during use, requiring multiple polishing.

4)High dimensional accuracy (because of computer-aided inspection)

The use of Nano-diamond coated (NDC) wire drawing die can greatly increase the output during its full life cycle, reduce the number of shutdown inspections and die change, the wire breakage rate is significantly reduced, the labor intensity of the workers is reduced, and the production efficiency is significantly improved. Using nano-diamond composite coating round wire drawing die, the same weight of raw materials, the length of the metal wire produced is 1-2% longer than that of the traditional TC die.

After the surface of the Nano-diamond coating (NDC) is polished, the surface finish reaches Ra≤0.1μm, it is self-lubricating, and the wetting angle with water is close to 0° (very hydrophilic). The hydrophilic property of the working surface makes the water form a continuous lubricating film. In addition, the self-lubricating graphite structure is evenly distributed on the coating surface. So, in the production process of metal (including aluminum) wire drawing, water lubrication can be used instead of oil lubrication.


The birth of this mold product brought a technological revolution in aluminum wire drawing for cable and brazing/welding industry:

Water or water-based emulsion is cheaper than traditional drawing oil.

Water-based emulsion can be reduced to clean water after professional treatment.

D) Conducive to safe production

During the drawing process, the oil mist formed by the evaporation of oil and gas is reduced or eliminated, the working environment of the workers is improved, and the fire safety hazard is eliminated.


4) Improve the withstand voltage level of the cable (because the hole diameter remains unchanged)

Using nano-diamond coating compacting die, the stability of the cable cross-section is very good, the cable cross-section remains unchanged for a long distance, which is conducive to the stable control of the thickness of the semiconductor shielding layer and the insulating layer, and it is also beneficial to improve the voltage resistance of the cable.


5) Significantly improve the partial discharge performance of the cable (because of the high finish of the working surface)

The use of nano-diamond composite coating compaction mold significantly improves the surface finish and precision of the round conductor, the surface is smooth, the brightness is good, the degree of copper oxidation is reduced, and the outer diameter of the product is uniform, which is conducive to the stability of the core resistance, and the core surface is mirror-like.

The brightness of the cable eliminates burrs and sharp corners on the surface of the cable conductor, which can improve the uniformity of the electric field distribution of the cable in the future operation, which is beneficial to improve the insulation level of the cable (especially the significant improvement of the cable partial discharge level), thereby extending the cable The service life has fundamentally improved the quality and qualification rate of cable products.


6)    Powder lubrication for wire-drawing can be cancelled when drawing medium carbon steel wire (because the working surface is smooth enough)

8) Save electricity (because the working surface is smooth)

The use of nano-diamond composite coating round wire drawing die improves the smoothness of the die working surface and reduces the friction between the die and the metal wire, thereby drawing the same length of metal wire, which saves the power consumption of the machine 10-15% compared with the traditional TC die.


This drawing die combines the advantages of the traditional three dies. That is, it combines the three advantages of Natural Diamond(ND) drawing die "high smoothness", polycrystalline diamond(PCD) drawing die "good wear-resistance", and Tungsten Carbide(TC) drawing die "strong resistance to expansion".


The product is used for drawing medium carbon steel wire:

-      The service life is extremely long, the NDC die with a drawing capacity of more than 300 tons or 500-1000KM is still working normally while the TC die can only pull about 10 tons; the medium carbon steel wire produced is dimensionally stable;

-      In addition, due to nano diamond costing, the composite coating has a smaller friction coefficient and lower heat generation during drawing, so the original powder lubrication is eliminated.

-      The dust pollution in the factory area and the cost of lubricating powder are reduced.
